Meet our team

When you choose to have your baby at the Salem Health Family Birth Center, you will be greeted by many friendly faces. The descriptions below will help you become familiar with our doctors, midwives and unit leaders you may see during your stay.

Your family’s wishes, knowledge, values, beliefs and cultural background are incorporated into the planning and delivery of care at our birthing center. We will do our best to follow your birth plan while still offering other options if the need arises.

OB/GYNs

An obstetrician-gynecologist (OB/GYN) is a doctor who specializes in female health issues. Apart from monitoring the pregnancy process and delivering babies, OB/GYN’s also perform a wide range of tasks related to reproductive issues.

Certified nurse-midwives

Our certified nurse-midwives provide nurturing, hands-on, person and family-centered care. Each are educated in both nursing and midwifery.

OB Hospitalists

OB Hospitalists are Board Certified OB/GYNs who work in partnership with the Family Birth Center. If you don't have your own OB provider or if your OB provider is not available when you go into labor, OB Hospitalists are available 24 hours a day to provide safe and professional care.

Pediatric Hospitalists

Pediatric Hospitalists are providers with specialized training in the care of children from birth to 18 years of age. Our team is available 24 hours a day providing safe and professional care to our patients and their families. They work in collaboration with the pediatric offices in our community to provide a seamless transition from the hospital to your pediatrician's office. They also provide consultative services to providers that are caring for patients in the emergency department and other areas throughout the hospital.
