When you choose to have your baby at the Salem Health Family Birth Center, you will be greeted by many friendly faces. The descriptions below will help you become familiar with our doctors, midwives and unit leaders you may see during your stay.
Your family’s wishes, knowledge, values, beliefs and cultural background are incorporated into the planning and delivery of care at our birthing center. We will do our best to follow your birth plan while still offering other options if the need arises.
Pediatric Hospitalists are providers with specialized training in the care of children from birth to 18 years of age. Our team is available 24 hours a day providing safe and professional care to our patients and their families. They work in collaboration with the pediatric offices in our community to provide a seamless transition from the hospital to your pediatrician's office. They also provide consultative services to providers that are caring for patients in the emergency department and other areas throughout the hospital.
Direct care or genetic consultation is provided for women with medical or surgical disorders that contribute to high-risk pregnancy such as heart disease, high blood pressure, pre-clampsia, diabetes, kidney disease, gastrointestinal disease, lung disease and infectious diseases such as HIV.
Our lactation consultants are registered nurses who are also international board certified lactation consultants. To support mothers in providing the best nutrition for their newborns, Salem Health offers a variety of breastfeeding and lactation services to patients during their stay and non-patients in the community.
