How to Infuse Evidence to Transform Practice
The Oregon Nursing Research and Quality Consortium, a newly formed association to promote professional nursing research held their inaugural symposium on April 19, 2010.
The theme, How to Infuse Evidence to Transform Practice focused upon the continuum of research and quality improvement.
The Oregon Consortium Planning Committee who selected the theme includes nurse representatives from, Salem Health, Oregon Health & Sciences University, Portland VA Medical Center, Legacy Health System, Providence St Vincent Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente Northwest Hospitals.
In his keynote address, the Dean of OHSU School of Nursing, Michael Bleich, PhD, RN, FAAN challenged the audience to broadcast their research and quality outcomes so that other health care teams could benefit from new knowledge.
Those in attendance then separated into three concurrent tracks or topics of interest: Methods, Dissemination or Evidence Based Practice.
The concluding session presented by Deborah Eldredge PhD, RN provided guidance on Implementation Science and Sustainability of Change.
Over 120 staff nurses, teaching faculty and researchers attended the day long conference at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.
Twenty seven professional posters displayed evidence of nursing team work to gain needed practice changes for better patient outcomes.
