Salem Hospital experiencing high patient volume

If individuals are experiencing a medical emergency, they should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Go to the emergency room if you have the following:

  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Shortness of breath
  • Severe burns, pain or head trauma
  • Sudden loss of vision
  • Broken bones with bone exposed

People may also go to urgent care or primary care clinics. Salem Health Urgent Care can be reached at 503-814-5554 or salemhealth.org/services/urgent-care. Health insurance providers may have nurse advice lines available to answer non-emergency medical questions. 

Salem Health Urgent Care offers treatment for:

  • Breathing problems: Coughs, colds, wheezing, mild asthma attacks, influenza, sinus infections and bronchitis
  • Ear problems: Ear infections, earaches, foreign object in the ear, and ear wax removal
  • Eye problems: Red eye, pink eye and sties
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Musculoskeletal problems: Sprains, strains and broken bones
  • Skin problems: Rashes, minor burns cuts/scrapes, lacerations, bites, poison ivy and abscesses/boils
  • Stomach problems: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn symptoms and abdominal pain
  • Urinary problems: Bladder and urinary tract infections and concerns of a sexually transmitted infection
  • Work injuries (workers compensation)
  • Physical exams
    • School physicals
    • Sports physicals
    • Blood pressure checks
