In 2013, Oregon Health Authority accredited Salem Hospital emergency department as a Level II Trauma Center, ready to care 24/7 for the Willamette Valley’s most seriously injured patients. Trauma facilities are designated as Level I, II, III, or IV, with Level I and II centers offering the highest level of care. Level II trauma centers provide care for severely injured patients of all ages. Facility services and resource requirements are similar to Level I.
Every trauma patient who arrives in the Salem Hospital emergency department is met by a trauma team with resuscitation life-support equipment to ensure rapid evaluation and treatment. Salem Hospital's Level II accreditation has remained consistent since 2013, with its most recent redesignation in July 2024.
