The Salem Health Foundation recently received a $10,000 donation from the OCCU Foundation. The gift is intended to support front-line health care workers and honor their dedicated work for the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The funds will help provide training programs to Salem Health employees, plus meals and access to tools to help with stress management.

“We are thankful that the OCCU Foundation made this commitment in this important time of need,” said Alex Casebeer, Salem Health Foundation board president.

“This is a heartening example of support,” said Jim Bauer, Salem Health chief development officer. “This gift will go directly to efforts that support health care employees.”

“Helping to ensure that our community continues to thrive is a top priority for the OCCU Foundation,” said Ron Neumann, president and CEO of Oregon Community Credit Union and OCCU Foundation board chair. “As we navigate the impacts of COVID-19 during these unprecedented times, we are committed to supporting efforts to help strengthen the overall health and stability of our community. Supporting the health care providers on the front lines to keep our communities safe allows us to direct resources toward the critical services needed during these challenging times.”

For others interested in supporting COVID-19 relief efforts for front-line health care providers, gifts can be made online at salemhealth.org/donate or by calling the Salem Health Foundation at 503-814-1990.

The Salem Health Foundation was established in 1968 by a group of Salem residents interested in advancing health care through donations. It is a charitable, tax-exempt organization that supports medical and medically related projects of Salem Health. The Foundation’s 12 volunteer directors help raise funds and manage the resources of the Foundation, while distributing the funds according to the wishes of those who have given.
