“We chose gastric bypass surgery in 2012 to reclaim our health,” said Lona R. of Salem, Oregon. “Until then, we tried every diet, every weight-loss pill — we’d lose weight, then gain it back.”

According to Lona’s husband, Terry, the couple’s weight was keeping them from enjoying life’s simple pleasures, like playing with their grandkids.

After one year, they had already lost a combined total of 160 pounds and knew they had made the right decision.

“We can climb stairs without being winded, we’re taking vacations and doing all kinds of new activities together with more great things to come,” said Terry.
