It teamed up with the Union Gospel Mission of Salem and held a community picnic for people in need. More than a hundred people attended the event. To prepare for the event, Chris H. and Missy J. with Nutrition Services collected donations from Salem Health employees, including hygiene items and food for our homeless neighbors. This past April, Salem Health established the Community Champions program. The 15 members of the inaugural program are learning about the community — and finding ways to engage with community partners in the Mid-Willamette Valley. The new leaders are asked to complete a community service project, plus serve on area boards and committees, or volunteer on a consistent basis. The program is a great example of how the community matters to Salem Health!
