Traditional medical models have failed many who suffer chronic pain in the U.S. Our aim is to improve community access to evidence-based care regarding persistent pain management through the new “Pain University” at Salem Health Rehabilitation Center.

Pain University uses a multidisciplinary approach to improve quality of life for people living with chronic pain.

Our new, six-week course Pain 101: Intro to pain and its treatment provides a discussion- and movement-based curriculum, co-facilitated by a psychologist and a physical therapist who specialize in chronic pain treatment. Participants will learn how to diminish the effects of catastrophizing pain, anxiety, physical guarding and poor sleep hygiene.

Pain University enrollment is free. The first class offered at the CHEC starts on March 6. New classes will be starting every two months.

After completion, patients will be able to choose group-based interventions including, but not limited to, aquatic exercise, yoga, mindfulness, pain stress reduction, sleep training. This may include specific work that requires a provider referral and insurance authorization.

To refer your patients to these programs, please fill out this referral form and fax it directly to the CHEC at 503-814-1599. Feel free to share this flier with your patients.
