Bio
Dr. Ivan A. Arenas is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography. He earned his medical degree at the Universidad Industrial de Santander and completed his internal medicine residency in Framingham, Massachusetts. Dr. Arenas completed a cardiology fellowship with the Columbia University Division of Cardiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida. Dr. Arenas also holds a doctoral degree in cardiovascular physiology from the University of Alberta and was a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Canadian Institutes of Health and Research investigating genetics of cardiovascular disease at the University of Montreal, where he conducted studies of genetics and blood pressure regulation. Dr. Arenas was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Columbia University at Mount Sinai Medical Center for over six years before moving to Salem. He is a member of the editorial board of scientific journals and is author/co-author of several publications in the field of risk factors for cardiac and vascular disease.
