Bio
Before relocating to Salem, Dr. Schumacher provided vascular care in the Northwest for many years. His education took him across the southern United States; earning his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, then interning and performing his residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and his fellowship with Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He enjoys establishing relationships with patients that center on trust, education and personalized care; keeping patients well informed with open communication and creating treatment plans tailored to each individual. He grew up in the Southwest and is married with five children. Together, they enjoy outdoor activities, including hiking, cycling, gardening and traveling
Interests
Dr. Schumacher is board-certified in surgery and vascular surgery. He has particular interest in cerebrovascular disease, open and endovascular treatment of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms and managing chronic extremity ischemia using modern minimally invasive revascularization techniques. He has published on various topics in vascular and general surgery and is a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).
