21 Nov 2021

Responsibilities shared by executive team

By: Leilani Slama, chief communications and community relations officer

Bahaa headshotBahaa Wanly, chief operating officer and chief diversity officer, has announced he has accepted the role as president of Legacy Mt Hood Medical Center. His last day with Salem Health was Nov. 16.

Wanly started with Salem Health in 2015 as the vice president of the medical group, then quickly promoted to chief operating officer and, most recently, championed our inclusion, diversity and equity work. While we are sad to see him go, we wish him much success in his new adventure!

Wanly’s responsibilities will be distributed among the executive team:

  • IDEAL will move under Jaime Nichols, chief human resources officer.
  • Leilani Slama, chief communications and community relations officer, will assume responsibility for population health.
  • Cardiovascular and Salem Cancer Institute will report to Jennifer Fowler, vice president of finance.
  • EVS, Patient Transport, and Deni Hoover, chief surgical services officer, will report to Sarah Horn, chief nursing officer.
  • Salem Health Medical Group will move under Leah Mitchell, chief integration officer, with Katie Dobler, vice president of the medical group and Chris Clarke, MD, chief medical officer of the medical group, remaining at the helm.
  • Brandon Schmidgall, chief administrative officer of West Valley Hospital, will report to James Parr, chief financial officer.
