Recent video highlights local Latino/a/x and Hispanic communities

By: Nancy Reyes-Molyneux, MD, IDEAL council co-chair

On Behalf of the IDEAL leadership team, we want to thank you all for your commitment and dedication to advancing our organizations commitment and philosophy to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and a Learning Culture here at Salem health. It is through this effort that we will continue to provide exceptional and meaningful care to our community and their families.

We have created several videos throughout the year celebrating the diverse make-up that is our work place and community.  I would like to encourage all medical staff and leaders to find ways to view and then share or discuss our IDEAL events within your teams. We have seen examples of some departments sharing at rounding, on visibility boards, huddles or communication via email.

If you’d like support from the IDEAL team to help facilitate any of these conversations, don’t hesitate to reach out to IDEAL@salemhealth.org.

Don't miss our second October IDEAL video hosted by our respected colleague Xochitl Gutierrez, Clinical Nurse in Surgical Oncology. Xochitl will share some information about our local Latino/a/x and Hispanic communities. Next on the video, I had the opportunity to interview one of our patients, Belinda Susee, a cancer survivor who reflects on her care at Salem Health.  Through her perspective, we have the opportunity to learn from her patient experience as she shares with us her culture, heritage and beliefs.

Please keep in mind that all of our IDEAL spotlight events are recorded and available for on demand viewing. Our community appreciates your support and we encourage, all Salem Health providers, staff, employees and volunteers to watch these events and engage with coworkers in discussion and celebration.
