Rolling service targets hard to reach areas

By: Leilani Slama, chief communications and community relations officer

Marion and Polk counties have begun vaccinating people in Phase 1B, Group 6 at the Oregon State Fairgrounds and Western Oregon University. There are several new categories within this group, including:

  • People age 45 to 64 with certain underlying conditions approved by the CDC;
  • Employees who work in the seafood, agricultural and food processing industries;
  • Migrant and seasonal farm workers;
  • Pregnant women;
  • People experiencing houselessness or impacted by the wildfires.

Last week we also launched a mobile vaccine clinic for those in hard to reach areas. Our first event at the Jefferson Community Center was a success. We are working with employers, our faith community and non-profit organizations to schedule more events.
