Urine pregnancy test unavailable at Salem and West Valley hospitals due to nationwide recall

Oct. 4, 2026

Order blood test instead

By: Karl Kamper, Clinical Support Operations System Director

Urine pregnancy testing is currently unavailable at Salem and West Valley Hospitals due to a nationwide FDA/manufacturer recall. For pregnancy testing, please order LAB8304, HCG Pregnancy, Qualitative with Reflex to Quantitative. This test requires a blood specimen.

The timeline for resolution is currently unknown. We will provide updates as we learn more.

Salem Health Medical Clinics are not impacted by this recall, as their Point of Care testing kits are made by a different manufacturer. Clinics can continue to perform urine pregnancy testing at this time.
