Updates to visitor restrictions

21 Jun 2020

COVID-19 visitor guidance

Oregon Health Authority revised its COVID-19 guidance on screening and visitation on June 8. You can see the OHA guidelines here. As a result, we have updated the Salem Health visitation guidelines here (also available on the COVID-19 intranet resources page, at the top, under “Signage and talking points). The visitation guidelines team has also created a summarized explanation of the policy here. Please familiarize yourself with all three of these. The summary, in particular, may be helpful to you in enforcing current restrictions.

Points of clarification

We cannot force non-COVID-19 patients to wear masks, but we can highly encourage them to do so. They are all screened, and staff are wearing PPE, so we are taking the appropriate steps for safety.

We are not currently allowing any of the following:

  • Visitors joining employees for lunch
  • On-site interviews
  • On-site volunteers

Some support groups have resumed meeting at the CHEC. Participants must:

  • Be screened at entry
  • Comply with masking guidelines
  • Maintain social distance
  • Restrict time and movement on campus to the support group duration and location
