Universal masking standard revised

20 Nov 2022

You can remove mask in Creekside, non-patient areas

By: Dana Hawkes, director of Clinical & Medical Staff Development and Support Services

Masks are no longer required in Creekside Dining at Salem Hospital. Masks are still required in patient care areas, but may be removed in areas where health care is not being delivered and patients are not present.

As a reminder, the Oregon Health Authority defines areas where health care is not delivered as places such as meeting rooms, offices, office areas and corridors which are separated by walls (floor to ceiling) and doors where health care is not being delivered and patients are not present (e.g. second floor of Building B).

Lobbies and sky bridges, where patient traffic appears before and after check-in, are considered mask-on areas. This includes clinic lobbies and lobbies in Buildings A, B, C, and D, including coffee shops, but excluding Creekside Dining.
