The Bylaws Review Committee was formed to do periodically carry out a comprehensive review so our rules accurately reflect current state and best practices. Now, it’s your turn.

Proposed revisions will be posted for 30 days and presented to the Physician Leadership Council. You can review them here: bylaws part 1 and bylaws part 2. After those 30 days, ballots will be mailed to Medical Staff members with active staff status to the locations on file with the Medical Staff Office.

Please email any questions or concerns to the Bylaws Review Committee Chair, Clark McDonald, MD, at Clark.McDonald@salemhealth.org.

Suggested changes came from the Medical Executive Committee and the Bylaws Committee, which includes Clark McDonald, MD, Pathology, Chair; Christine Clarke, MD, General Surgery, Medical Staff President-Elect; Claire O’Brien, MD, Internal Medicine, Chief Medical Information Officer; Kelly Aebi, interim Medical Staff Office manager; Melinda Seibert, West Valley Hospital Medical Staff Office Supervisor.

Stakeholders in the review process also include:

  • Barbara Blackmond, senior partner in the law firm of Horty, Springer and Mattern, P.C.  She works extensively with hospitals and physician leaders on credentialing matters and in the defense of antitrust lawsuits filed against hospitals and medical staff leaders. Salem Health has a long-standing contract with this firm and often seeks its advice.
  • Keith Bauer, Salem Health Legal Counsel
  • Debra Harris, Director, Health Information Management
