Susan Spohr leaving, Michelle Tobias on board

It is with regret that we announce that Susan Spohr, Director of OR & SPD, is leaving Salem Health to focus on her husband’s care. Her last day is Friday, June 9. We are deeply grateful for her time and efforts over the last 18 months, and will keep her in our thoughts.
We have not yet determined the best way to fill this leadership gap. Please feel free share ideas! As you know, OR leaders are difficult to find, with hundreds of open positions nationwide. Contract leadership has historically been hit and miss for us, and we as a leadership team are very sensitive to the impact of leader turnover on our providers, staff and initiatives.
On a positive note, our OR manager, Michelle Tobias, started work this week. She is in the ORs and
around the charge desk for much of the coming weeks, so please keep an eye out for her and help us welcome her to Salem Health. Michelle is excited to jump in, meet people, and help us advance our continuous improvement.
We’ll continue to share information with you on this important topic and hope you will take a moment to thank Susan for her work in the next few weeks.
