Salem Health Urgent Care “goes virtual”

01 Sep 2019

Video, e-visits reduce time and cost

By: Christina Kochan, Salem Health Medical Group business manager

Since Aug. 1, Salem Health Urgent Care has successfully seen patients using virtual care for a variety of symptoms, saving hours of time while reducing costs. Each business day, one of two providers dedicates their schedule to these appointments.

Virtual care allows patients to receive medical advice from a Salem Health Urgent Care provider using a computer or mobile device. Two types of virtual care options are available:

  • Video visits Patients and an urgent care provider interact in real time using online video for same-day, virtual visits.
  • E-visits Patients fill out a symptom-specific questionnaire for an urgent care provider to review. Response time is within four hours (during regular business hours).

Virtual care visits work anywhere with an internet connection. A MyChart account is required. This approach is also available in Salem Health Medical Clinics.
