New options have been added to Salem Health’s lung cancer screening program. The ordering process hasn’t changed, but we’ve added more categories.

In addition to the original lung screening criteria (ages 55-80, 30 pk/yr. smoking history or greater, and active smoker or quit within the last 15 years), you can order screenings based on additional criteria:

NCCN Category 2A

  • 50-to-80-year-olds
  • 20 pack/year smoking history or greater
  • Secondary risk factors

We have done 3,100 screenings since January 2013, resulting in 37 lung cancer diagnoses – 21 of the 37 being at stage IA.
