Congratulations to Dr. Sandeep Saha, electrophysiologist with Oregon Heart Center, for being invited to publish an opinion on recent research in the December Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
His Editorial Comment is entitled Premature Ventricular Complexes During Exercise in Asymptomatic Adults: Do They Deserve a Closer Look? Read his editorial on the research here.
The research and his editorial also garnered media attention from Medscape Cardiology and Physicians’ Weekly. The general finding is that people who experience high-grade premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) during the recovery period may be at higher risk for later cardiovascular mortality. Findings may prompt further cardiac evaluation in asymptomatic intermediate-risk patients who exhibit exercise-induced PVCs, especially during the recovery period.

Dr. Saha, MD, MS, FACC, FHRS, started at Oregon Heart Center and Salem Health in August 2017. He received his medical degree at the Seth G.S. Medical College and King Edward VII Memorial Hospital at the University of Mumbai, India. He completed his residency in internal medicine at The Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, Illinois. He then worked as a faculty hospitalist at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, and was clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Washington. He then went on to complete a fellowship in echocardiography at the University of California in San Francisco, followed by fellowships in cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Rush University.
