One of the Prothrombin Complex Concentrates used for reversal of warfarin does not contain much Factor VII. Patients who receive it for warfarin reversal should also receive two units of FFP to ensure receipt of an adequate amount of all four clotting factors inhibited by warfarin.

  • Providers entering the chart of a patient with an order for Profilnine will see a pop up BPA asking if the patient should have FFP as well.
  • FFP can be ordered simply by clicking the “Accept” button.
  • Clicking “Dismiss” will mean that you never again have to see the pop up for this patient (other providers will until FFP is ordered, or after four hours have passed)
  • Starting on: March 5, 2018
  • Details about the different kinds of PCC can be found on the PCC Tipsheet
