Pierce honored by American Cancer Society

Dr. Pierce receives the Distinguished Advocacy Award

The Oregon unit of the American Cancer Society presented Bud Pierce with the Distinguished Advocacy Award on Feb. 20, for his long career in cancer treatment and political advocacy.

The award was presented at the society’s “Cheers to Health Equity” event in Salem. He’s pictured here with Kathy Ottele, leader ambassador for the Oregon unit. Pierce serves on the society’s Oregon board. Josh Franke, Salem Health’s cancer services director, also attended and spoke about the personal nature of cancer and the hospital’s cancer screening program that serves 1,500 patients a year.
