Starting Dec. 7, physician-requested pathologist reviews will be generated by consultation with Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Disease, or Pathology/Hematopathology. The PSRV, Pathologist Slide Review Order, will no longer be an orderable test.
The current slide review process, performed by the Laboratory Medical Technologists, appropriately generates a pathologist review when abnormal or suspect findings are seen by the technologist upon microscopic review of the slide. A lab-generated comment, appended to differential results, will indicate a slide has been sent for review directing physicians to the pathologist’s response in the ordered PSRV.
