It’s that time of year again!

Nearly one year ago we implemented Password Policy Enforcement in our environment to ensure that we are adhering to the best practices in security, privacy, and the protection of PHI. One feature of this policy is the annual expiration of passwords. Over the next two weeks many employees, physicians, and volunteers will be prompted to change their password in compliance with this standard.

If you are attempting to log in to Epic and see a message that your password has expired, please follow these steps to reset your password:

  1. Using Internet Explorer, navigate to http://wi/
  2. Attempt to log in using your current network credentials.
  3. You will be prompted to change your password.
    1. Enter your current password in the Old password field.
    2. Enter a new password in the new password field.
    3. Enter this new password again in the confirm password field.
    4. Click OK.

Reminder, your new password must match our corporate password policy:

  • Password Length
    • Passwords are to be at least eight characters long.
  • Password Complexity
    • Passwords should contain characters from at least three of the following four categories:
      • English uppercase characters (A - Z)
      • English lowercase characters (a - z)
      • Numeric characters (0 - 9)
      • Special characters (for example: !, $, #, or %)
    • Passwords must not include more than 3 repetitious characters
    • Passwords shall not be proper names, words in dictionaries, permutations of personal data or more than 3 consecutive characters of the User’s login account.
