The construction of a 40-bed general/universal unit equipped with telemetry on the 5th floor of Building D hornis complete! It’s now Building B’s turn for a remodel, specifically the 4th and 5th floors of the south tower.

On Oc. 24, the Medical Telemetry Unit on 4 South will be relocating to the newly opened 5th floor of Building D, allowing for the Building B south tower remodel.

Starting Oct. 24, the Medical Telemetry Unit (4 South) will begin admitting patients to the 5th floor of Building D (D5).  Patients who are not discharged by mid-week will be transferred to D5.

As we get closer to next winter and the potential for high census, this relocation will also give us two additional telemetry beds for the Medical Telemetry Unit. All rooms will be single occupancy.

We recognize that this change of location will increase the distance you may need to travel to see patients, but once you see the beautiful environment our patients will be enjoying, we hope you’ll be pleased!

Once the Medical Telemetry Unit (4 South) has relocated to D5, we will move the Medical Unit (5 South) to 4 South in early November so that 5 South can be remodeled first. The remodeling of the Medical Unit (5 South) is expected to take at least nine months.

Once the remodeling of the Medical Unit (5 South) is complete, the Medical Unit will move back to 5 South and then the Medical Telemetry Unit (4 South) will undergo remodeling which is also estimated to take at the least nine months.

The decision to remodel 5 South before 4 South is due to the current state of the nurse call system on 5 South. Due to patient safety precautions and to ensure reliability, the nurse call system needs upgrading which will be done during the remodel.
