Local pediatric care got a boost recently when OHSU opened its new clinic in Salem, with expanded pediatric specialty care offerings. The OHSU Doernbecher Pediatric Specialties Clinic, Salem, is located in Building C on the Salem Health campus.
A collaborative team with representatives from Salem Health, Salem-area physicians and OHSU has been meeting regularly for the past couple of years to identify gaps in care for our community, and to identify solutions to meet those needs. For example, 5,500 Marion/Polk families travel each year to Doernbecher in Portland to receive specialized services. These are some of the families who will benefit from this new clinic.
Salem’s new OHSU Doernbecher Pediatric Specialties Clinic includes six exam rooms and offers many of the same technical capabilities available at OHSU Doernbecher clinic locations on Marquam Hill. The clinic is equipped with a telemedicine cart to expand access to additional specialties, or offer existing specialties more frequently, and further extend the reach of pediatric specialists to the Salem community.
