Dr. Boutin steps down: Due to evolving family responsibilities, Nancy Boutin, MD, will step down from her medical director roles in Salem Health Palliative Care and the Salem Cancer Institute. She will continue to see patients on a part-time basis. We are incredibly thankful for her leadership in both areas of work over the last decade.

“I am grateful to the Salem Health family for support and all of the amazing opportunities afforded me for more than a quarter century,” Dr. Boutin said. “I look forward to finding ways to be useful to the organization and the community as my current constraints resolve.”

Team adjusts hours: The Salem Health Palliative Care team continues to adjust services to support the needs of patients, families, and clinicians. Starting Jan. 1, a team will be available Sunday through Friday with provider(s), social work, registered nurse, medical ethicist, and chaplain coverage.

The team will continue seeing patients in the outpatient clinic on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to ensure continuity of care after hospitalization and support of chronic disease management. If you would like to refer a patient to the Palliative Care inpatient service, please page the triage provider. If you would like to refer a patient to the outpatient clinic, please call 503-814-2483.
