Nuclear Medicine changed its gastric emptying protocol to align with updates from the Society of Nuclear Medicine Procedure Guidelines.
The most significant change is the recommendation to stop the following medications two days before exams:
We realize some patients struggle being off some medications for two days – so we will proceed with studies in these cases only after approval from the ordering provider.
If the patient is still on medication just before the study, note that it will be more geared to testing the efficacy of the medication, rather than a comprehensive study of gastric motor function.
