A self-described "joiner," Dr. Boutin is always willing to help in any way that will strengthen the organization and improve the service we provide to our patients. An outstanding illustration of her dedication is her pioneering work in the daunting project of developing best practice standards for opioid management. Dr. Boutin went above and beyond in analyzing the organization's approach to the methadone-dependent patient and took the leadership role in developing a four-step problem solving project to assure safe and effective treatment of this unique group of patients. The commitment it took to begin this project cannot be overestimated; this initial 4SPS is only a small part of an ongoing effort to develop systematic support and education for our clinicians as we meet the challenges inherent in properly managing these medications, which have had such an impact on our medical system and society.
