Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dr. Matt Boles. I am privileged and honored to be your new vice president of medical affairs. I’d like to give you a brief overview of my duties and how you can expect me to support you in your practice.

First and foremost, an important function of my role as VPMA is to support Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ralph Yates. With more than 900 medical staff privileged at Salem Health, it is our duty to foster the well-being and engagement of our medical providers who serve our community. Together, Ralph and I will continue efforts to address and prevent burnout and create opportunities to restore a proper work-life balance among those who give so much of their time caring for patients.

In addition to supporting Ralph, I will also foster leadership development among our section chiefs, medical directors, and other physician and provider leaders to help make their work more effective and meaningful. Furthermore, I will bring my experience in dyad partnerships and model this for other service lines to enhance provider-administrator relationships. In all my work, I fundamentally believe that using our leadership principles while establishing reliable methods of communication will improve our distinctive, patient-centered culture at Salem Health.

I look forward to serving in this role and hope to have some dialogue with you soon. I plan to join problem-solving opportunities and to acknowledge and appreciate the successes in your own practice. Please stop by and say hello. My office is on the third floor of Building B in the Medical Staff Office suite.
