MEC seeking nominations for three positions

The Salem Hospital Medical Executive Committee (MEC) are seeking nominations for these positions:
- Primary Care Department Chair*
- Surgical Specialty Department Chair*
- Medical Specialty Department Chair
*Current Primary Care and Surgical Specialty Department Chairs, Drs. Sarah Webber and Maurice Collada, are interested in running for a continued term.
The Medical Executive Committee encourages any qualified and interested candidate to request an application for submittal. Terms for Primary Care and Surgical Specialty commence January 2025 and the term for Medical Specialty commences as soon as possible or by January 2025.
Minimum qualifications:
- Member of the Active staff with relevant clinical privileges.
- Member of the Primary Care, Surgical Specialty or Medical Specialty Department.
Committee participation:
- Member of the Medical Executive Committee: Meets on the second and fourth Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8 a.m.
- Member of the Quality Operations Committee: Meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 7 to 8 a.m.
- Member of Physician Leadership Council: Meets the third Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m.
Department Chair responsibilities
Below is a sample, more information can be found in the Salem Hospital Credentials Procedure Manual (request from Medical Staff Office).
- Oversee all clinically-related activities of the department.
- Provide ongoing surveillance of the performance of all individuals in the medical staff department who have been granted clinical privileges.
- Recommend to the Credentials Committee the criteria for requesting clinical privileges that are relevant to the care provided in the medical staff department.
- Recommend clinical privileges for each member of the department and other licensed independent practitioners practicing with privileges within the scope of the department.
