As director of inpatient rehab since 2013, Dr. Vranna has exceeded all of our expectations — staff and patients have never been more satisfied. Early on, he focused on educating colleagues to increase awareness of IPR, and he meets weekly with the care management team. He’s involved in Physician Leader Institute and many four-step projects on the unit and within the hospital. Dr. Vranna is also a published author. He leads by example, empowering others to do their best. Inpatient Rehab has grown and become an integral part of Salem Health because of Dr. Vranna’s leadership. An example of his commitment: He’s recently been the only physician for IPR and has worked 7 days a week, 12 hours a day, more than 20 consecutive days, and still arrives every morning with a smile. His mother recently passed away and he was back at work within three days, trying to coordinate her services while he managed patients on our unit. Dr. Vranna has consistently gone above and beyond to keep rehab a viable part of Salem Health.
