For patients who have a positive COVID-19 diagnosis or suspected of having COVID-19 we ask that they call ahead to our Laboratory Client Services Department at 503-814-5227, Option 6. Our team will direct them to a collection site and provide instructions on what to do when they arrive in order to minimize contact with otherwise healthy patients.
Our top priority is the safety protecting our patients and employees. With the unique circumstances of COVID-19, we made the difficult decision to restrict routine visits within our facilities. There undoubtedly will be times when best judgement will guide us in recognizing that having a visitor or family member presence is imperative. In that case, a maximum of one visitor at any given time and no visitors with a cough or cold symptoms or under the age of 12 shall present with a patient to our laboratory service centers.
Starting May 4, most clients will remain as “Call Only” for specimen pick up until client volume increases. Client & Courier Services can be reached at 503-814-5227, Option 1. We are frequently monitoring volume and frequency of call in order to determine when to move a client to a scheduled stop.
In order to limit exposure we have advised our couriers not to go inside facilities collecting specimens. We are requesting that samples be readily accessible for our Salem Health Lab Courier in order to limit exposure.
If you have a Salem Health Lab Specimen Lockbox, your lockbox must be located on the exterior of your facility upon courier arrival. Place your sample inside the container of the lock box for our couriers to pick up. If you do not have a lockbox, your courier will call you when they arrive for you to bring the specimen out to them. Sample integrity and instructions how to preserve your specimen before your courier arrives can be located at https://www.testmenu.com/salemhealthlab.
Please note: If samples are not readily accessible by the time the courier arrives, the pick-up will be cancelled and recorded in our client log.
For further information regarding laboratory services, please do not hesitate to call our Client Services Department 503-814-5227 (4-LABS).
