Starting Oct. 2, Salem Health is adjusting the Critical Value on Blood Glucose testing results. The Emergency Department originated this change with the goal of reducing the high volume of telephone calls reporting Critical Values to ED charge nurses. Discussions with other hospitals in Oregon confirmed they also have set their Blood Glucose Critical Value at >500. This will not change any existing protocols.
