When a narrative or comment is linked to a lab result in Epic, it populates as blue text and users can click on the result to read the linked comment. Due to Salem Clinic’s CLIA (clinical laboratory improvement amendments) requirements, we had to configure all of their lab results to appear with the blue link until Epic could come up with a reconfiguration.
A fix has been built that will still allow for the CLIA information to be populated, and will no longer cause all lab results to appear as a blue hyperlink. Results that have an appropriate test-related “narrative/comment” will continue to appear as a hyperlink for staff to read.
We are sending this notification to ensure that everyone is aware of the purpose of the hyperlinked results and that the ongoing discrepancy with Salem Clinic results has been fixed.
