If your patients have been living with pain and waiting to do something about it, tell them to register for the FREE Pain University CHEC class, Pain 101: Intro to pain and its treatment! Don’t miss out because the last two have been completely full. Your patients can sign up themselves for the July 10 session, provided there’s room - let them know quickly.
To refer them to the next class starting Sept. 4, here’s the form. Fax it to the Salem Health CHEC at 503-814-1599.
This six-week, evidence- and movement-based class series is for anyone suffering from chronic pain. It's co-facilitated by a psychologist and physical therapist who specialize in this treatment.
Participants will learn a multidisciplinary approach to diminish the effects of catastrophizing pain, anxiety, physical guarding and poor sleep. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a biopsychosocial approach, which includes multiple ways of understanding and handling persistent pain.
A new series begins every two months, and the next session starts Wednesday, July 10. Classes are from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and they're free!
Participants will be in a classroom, learning and experiencing with others how to diminish the effects of catastrophizing pain, anxiety, physical guarding and poor sleep hygiene. They’ll learn to find group-based interventions including, but not limited to: aquatic exercise, yoga, mindfulness plus pain stress reduction, sleep training. This may include specific work, which requires a provider referral and insurance authorization.
