CMS has enhanced the requirement hospitals have to provide timely electronic notifications to a patient’s care team providers. Providers using Epic will now see additional ADT (Admission/ Discharge/ Transfer) notifications in the InBasket ADT Folder. These notifications are for patient admission and discharge from the hospital as well as for ED visits. The intent of this change is to improve coordination of care and patient follow-up as appropriate.
Providers on external EMR systems will receive Discharge notifications the same way they currently do. Admission and Transfer notifications will be available now as well.
