Happy New Year from the CEO

It’s a new year, and with a new year comes new goals – including stronger, better two-way communication with you.

I want to use Common Ground as a forum to regularly communicate with you. You will find “Message from the CEO” articles here on a consistent basis, with my thoughts, vision and perspective. I want to be as transparent as possible about decisions and the direction of Salem Health. I welcome your feedback.

I believe that good relationships between Salem Health and providers are critical to the success of our shared mission. You communicated the same priority in last year’s medical staff engagement survey. Existing relationships are positive and productive, and we want to build on them.

As a practical way to pursue this goal, we want to strengthen relationships between the Executive Leadership Council (ELC) and the various medical sections. Our goal is to be more proactive in meeting with you, rather than reactive. 

Each ELC member has been assigned to a different medical section. For sections meeting regularly, the ELC member will attend some or all of the meeting. Our goal is regular and consistent contact and two-way communication.  We are also meeting 1:1 with the section chief on a monthly basis.  We want to improve avenues of communication, build upon our existing relationships, and foster a culture of trust and collaboration.
