I am excited (and a little apprehensive) to take on the role of chair of the Committee for Professionalism, a committee I believe plays a vital role in fostering a culture of safety.

I would like to continue to build on our culture of safety at Salem Health by providing hospital staff with the tools to be successful, promoting open and collegial conversation and working in a mutually respectful manner. I see these as a baseline for our work.

I would also like to see this committee grow to allow representation from all major disciplines and to develop a recognition program. My hope is to focus less on the individual and more on the processes/systems that lead to a breakdown in safety, remove barriers that inhibit us from doing our best work and collaborate with the medical staff.

I’m looking forward to working on these objectives in the pursuit of a constantly safer environment for our patients. If you have questions, ideas or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
