Equipment cleaning guidelines

The Project Management Office in collaboration with Infection Prevention, Sterile Processing and Education, has facilitated a housewide initiative to implement new regulatory guidelines regarding equipment cleaning. Staff representatives from departments and clinics across Salem Health have been inventorying their reusable equipment and checking manufacturers’ instructions for cleaning protocols.

Though this project has focused on critical (enters sterile body sites) and semicritical (enters mucous membranes) equipment/devices, the CLABSI Prevention A3 team has also reviewed cleaning protocols for common noncritical (touches intact skin) reusable equipment.
