Epic update: New alerts coming via CareSelect

As we layer CareSelect functionality into Epic in preparation for changing regulatory requirements in the future, you will start noticing new alerts and wording. We will introduce these to you as they arrive.

Starting June 12, advanced imaging orders (CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, and PET) will change, with these features:

The “Reason for exam” buttons have been replaced with dropdown menus for indications for exam.
These indications are mapped to ICD-10 codes and allow you to document more accurately.

Note: Whether within or out of the order set, advanced imaging orders will have a hard stop if no indication for exam is selected.

This will not impact ED quick lists that prepopulate the free text box.
