With our move to Epic 2015 we have adjusted some of the chart deficiencies to automatically assign to physicians. Previously, HIM personnel had go through charts and manually assign each task (deficiency). This allowed a 24 to 48 hour gap before the deficiency would appear in your inbox. With the change to ‘auto-assign’, some of these deficiencies were appearing sooner than expected.
We made adjustments so that the document types that ‘auto-assign’ (H&P, Op Reports, DC Summary) will now pend for a 24-hour period prior to assignment. The system will then check to see if a completed note already exists for the episode. If so, it will not assign the deficiency. Unfortunately, the system has generated some duplicate deficiencies and we apologize for this inconvenience. There is a fix already in place for this problem, but duplicate deficiencies may have reached your inbox prior to the fix. If you find these, please choose ‘done’ or ‘decline’ to remove them.
