Drill! Emergency notification exercise July 25

07 Jul 2019

We’ll call credentialed providers when emergencies hit

By: Matthew Boles, MD, vice president of medical affairs and Wayne McFarlin, emergency preparedness administrator

In June, Salem Health added the cell phone numbers of 385 providers with hospital privileges to the Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics emergency notification system. This helps provide more timely notice to medical staff in the event of a disaster (e.g. an active shooter at the hospital).

On Thursday, July 25, at noon, the system will contact providers via text and phone call to validate the programming and familiarize recipients with the notification process. The message will state we’re testing the emergency notification system and will ask the recipient to confirm receipt of the message by either replying by text with “YES” or by pressing the number “1” on the phone keypad if listening to the message. Confirming receipt by either method will successfully complete the test.

If you do not receive the test notification, or if you have not yet shared your cell phone number with us, please contact the Medical Staff Office at 503-814-3893.
