Changes to critical value and reference range for Troponin T - 5th Generation, High-Sensitivity

Salem Health Laboratories announced changes to the critical value and reference ranges for the Troponin T- 5th Generation, High Sensitivity test.
The current critical value for this test is set at >19 ng/L. Starting Tuesday, Dec. 3, that will change to ≥52 ng/L.

- A review of peer laboratories was done, and it was found that these changes are in line with generally accepted practices.
- The initial critical result will be phoned by lab staff. Subsequent critical results will not be phoned unless the level has dropped below the critical value of 52 ng/L and is once again critically elevated (within the same visit / admission).
