The Oregon Health Authority and Oregon Poison Control Center are monitoring a multi-state outbreak of life-threatening coagulopathy associated with synthetic cannabinoid use. No Oregon cases have been reported.

The CDC has provided this advisory and these clinical and public recommendations.

In March, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported cases of unexplained bleeding among patients who reported using synthetic cannabinoids. Subsequent testing detected the presence of brodifacoum, a long-acting, vitamin K-dependent antagonist used as a rodenticide.
