There is a new standard for inpatients exhibiting aggressive behavior towards caregivers. A sign is placed outside the door to alert all staff to the potential for an escalation in aggravation when attempting to provide care.alert

When the sign is present staff are directed to seek the guidance and/or support of the primary RN prior to approaching the patient with any intervention. The need for the sign will be re-evaluated by the primary RN every shift.
