Last month, we kicked off a series of organization-wide livestreams launching our commitment statement for our diversity and inclusion work. This body of work will now be called IDEAL (inclusion, equity, diversity and learning culture). The acronym is a happy coincidence that is symbolic because our improvement in these areas will bring us closer to an ideal state for our organization.
This month, panelists joined the discussion to celebrate Black History Month and explain the importance of representation and inclusion in the workplace and in patient care. Watch it here:
Our IDEAL work is uplifting and galvanizing, but it should also be something each person in this organization uses to examine their own understanding of inclusion, equity and diversity. As providers at Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics, it is incumbent upon us to take part in IDEAL work in order to improve patient care.
Please take the time to review and examine the concepts brought to you in each livestream. Your engagement matters. Next month, IDEAL will focus on Women’s History Month. Have feedback or ideas? Email chief operating officer and chief inclusion, equity and diversity officer Bahaa Wanly.
