During the recent ICD 10 go-live, it was discovered that we would be significantly short staffed with no night swing coverage. The hospitalists were already working longer days. Now with the crisis of ICD 10 impact on our day, less staffing, we were in a panic. Dr. Rafiq answered the call to help without hesitation. He knew how vital the night swing shift was to the stability of the program. Despite just having done a long stretch of his own shifts, he came in with very short notice and did the program a great and valuable service.
